“The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974” places a legal responsibility on the employer to take practical steps to ensure that everyone in the workplace is safe from the danger of electric shock.
This means that ALL Electrical Appliances at work must be PAT Tested on a regular basis to check that they are safe to use.
The PAT Testing process requires each appliance to be “unplugged” from the mains whilst it is visually & electronically tested to ascertain whether it is safe to use in its current environment.
Examples of items that need to be tested are:- Computers, fans, kettles, vacuum cleaners, drills, refrigerators, telephones etc.
